This is a quick read that can get you motivated to do something right now about your financial situation from home. Jill helps the reader come up with practical things that can be done right away. After reading this I have several ideas of how I could get some cash in my hands in the next 24-48 hours. With some creativity and reaching out to your community anyone could find this book useful. This is a small investment to get some much needed motivation to make money from home. It's a great resource while so many work at home ideas cost money to begin and can take months to years to see much profit.

What I liked about this little gem is that it creates a 'flow' for people to get creative with income building.
It is a great reminder that we have everything we need at our fingertips in order to make money.
Is it worth the money? This is a no-brainer- if your surfed the net for a few hours- you MAY be lucky to get a comprehensive list of 70. BUT STOP and think about it. Even if you could do it all in ONE hour... how much is your time worth? If you don't think you are worth $.97 per hour...then no wonder you are broke! *smiles... something to think about. I would say, `get the book'... if you are looking for cash!

The Devil's Arguments, In His Own Language

In the forward to this remarkable book Milosz writes that he wants to give the totalitarian point of view "in his own words, from his own point of view." The result is this ambitious, fascinating tour of the human mind twisted by the lies of the culture that surroundes it. It's a schizophrenic place that resembles the scarier novels of the noir writer Jim Thompson. There's nothing solid to cling to; everything dissolves into fear and loathing. Milosz turns his poetical gifts to the case studies of several Polish intellectuals who became entangled with the Communist party. Milosz doesn't name them but one is clearly Tadeusz Borowski, the author of the Holocaust short story collection "This Way for the Gas, Ladies and Gentlemen." The title of that book in Polish was "The Stony World", which reflected how Borowski, an Auschwitz survivor, came to see the world--as dominated by force, without effective moral constraint. Milosz depicts Borowski as a man who sought shelter under the protection of the strongest earthly power available--the Communists--but was unable finally to justify the price of that loyalty (he committed suicide.) What keeps someone from succumbing to "Ketman" (the two-facedness that Orwell called "double-think?) Milosz implies the answer is religious faith, which allows one to trust in an objective truth beyond the lies and terror of the stony world (he was a devout Catholic.) This book is a must read for anyone who wants to keep the world from stealing his soul.

Communist Intellectual is an Oxymoron.

Never have I read a more vivid and convincing thesis defending the virtues of intellectual freedom. Though frequently difficult to read--the author (or the translator) shifts frequently from first to second to third person (and back again) in mid paragraph--the work is central to understanding not only the intellectual seductiveness of the "rule of philosophy" but, more importantly and generally, the dangers of intellectual conformity. Milosz's dissection of intellectuals' attraction to leftist social systems becomes a defense of open society in both the intellectual and general communities. We come to understand most fundamentally the concept of intellectual freedom, and how the elimination of it becomes the ultimate goal of authoritarian leftist politics... despite claims otherwise.
Many intellectuals believe that their interests are best served by socialism or communism. Milosz explains why they are frequently fooled into believing this, and why many of the very components of socialism and communism that intellectuals most covet--freedom from vulgar market forces and important roles in the administration of society--are the very forces that strip them of their liberty. He illustrates this process with four character examples.
Though written in the throes of the Cold War, this work could not be more timely. And though it is written as an attack on Communism (with a big "C") and is rife with often knee-jerk anti-Russian rhetoric, it's arguements can be easily applied to all forms of totalitarianism, both left and right. Mostly, Milosz is attempting to defend the chaotic human condition from idealogical molding and, considering contemporary encroachments of politics, government, and religion into the lives of human beings, this book is as valid and important today as it was in 1953. Not to be missed.

Required reading in the 20'th century

"It was only toward the middle of the twentieth century that the inhabitants of many European countries came, in general unpleasantly, to the realization that their fate could be influenced directly by intricate and abtruse books of philosophy". That's how this book begins, and it captures Milosz's major theme: the vast difference between "abtruse books of philosophy" and real human beings. In a series of connected essays, he studies that difference, and the ways in which people respond when they're forced to deny it. Most of the essays tell the stories of writers that Milosz knew in Warsaw before the war, and the different routes they took to becoming instruments of communist propaganda. Of the other essays, the one most powerful to an American reader is "Looking to the West", which starts with Milosz being asked whether Americans are really stupid. The writing is beautiful and vivid. I highly recommend this book to anybody who dislikes the oversimplifications of ideology. I recommend it even more highly to anybody who doesn't.

The "black dog" of melancholy hangs over the characters in this atmospheric English village mystery in which past secrets and frustrations cloud the present. The two Derbyshire detectives, a man and a woman, who investigate the murder of the teenage daughter of a wealthy, socially prominent family are almost too entangled by loose ends in their lives to think clearly in a demanding investigation. The acerbic nature of their relationship is fascinating to observe, as is the fact that, in a welcome change from most crime fiction, the woman cop is not at all a sympathetic character. This is one of many relationships portrayed here that sours with time. Implications ripple out from the discovery of the girl's body, ultimately tearing off the facades that many of the villagers have constructed. Booth's "something is very wrong here" tone is satisfyingly similar to Ruth Rendell's. Chilling and thought-provoking. Connie Fletcher

A Remarkable First Novel

Stephen Booth is a new British author and "Black Dog" is his first novel. It is set in England, in the Peak District, an area known for hiking and overrun by tourists in the summer.
Laura Vernon, aged 15, of Moorhay Village disappears and foul play is suspected. The police launch a search, but it is a villager who turns up the first real evidence. Laura Vernon's family had only recently moved to the area and does not blend in well with their neighbors. And there seems to be something else no one is willing to talk about.
DCs Diane Fry and Ben Cooper are part of the investigating police force. Diane had only recently transferred to the district, Ben is the local boy, "Sergeant Cooper's lad", trying to live up to the shining example his father set. Both are competing for a promotion and there is more to both of them than meets the eye. The interaction between these two is what makes up most of this book's charm. Stephen Booth does a very good job here to portray two very different characters and to show how deceiving appearances can be.
This is not your usual police procedural. There is a lot more to the book than just an investigation and a criminal. The solution to the mystery is almost secondary and, to be honest, feels a bit rushed. It is the two main characters that drive the book. You get to know them very well and I would love to read more about them.
I highly recommend this book. Fans of psychological mysteries like Minette Walters' will not be disappointed.

SOMETHING for the JADED READER

I loved this book, because it gave me something that's been missing in a lot of recent Crime Novels. It has a setting that you are led into with incredible skill, one that reminds me of Sherlock Holmes novels set in the country. The second amazing part of this book, that kept me reading with such enjoyment, were the characters. Stephen Booth has created people that feel real, have unexpected flaws and strengths, and who you can't wait for the next time you meet. I am looking forward to the next book because there is real talent here.

Black Dog is one of the most amazing books that I have read in a very long time.
Stephen Booth's characters come alive on the first page and only get better as you go through the book to the last page. He actually takes you through the entire story making you feel as if you are there. And the people are real.
Laura Vernon is missing. An innocent, well liked, quiet, and well mannered 15 year old girl, according to some. To others, who seemed to know her better, quite wild.
As the helicopters fly overhead, and the police look desperately for this young girl, an old man sits on a rock, at the edge of the dark woods of England's brooding Peak District, watching and listening to the activity overhead. Suddenly his black Labrador, Jess, comes running up with something in her mouth.
From this minute on you will not be able to put this book down. The object that Jess retrieves takes you into the lives of everyone in the village. Secrets are divulged that have been hidden for years. Just when you figure you have this whole story figured out, you are led down another path. And then another.
Stephen Booth has written a story that will grab you, and not let you go. The only thing bad about this book is that you don't want it to end. You want to know more about the people, their lives and what will happen to them. You will defiantly have "The black dog's on your back". And you will not want it any other way.

Focused on the NightWings

This is the fourth book in the Wings of Fire series. And it almost entirely focuses on Starflight, now that he’s been taken to the NightWing lair. They’re extremely secretive, and wholly unimpressive once Starflight begins to learn about them. All he can think about is getting back to save his friends. But Starflight doesn’t think of himself as a hero. He’s used to doing the thinking, and letting the others save the day.

I really enjoyed this focus on the dark and mysterious Nightwings. And Starflight is a great character, smart but humble and loyal to his friends. This series just keeps getting better. Full of suspense, mystery, and humor – this is a fantastic story of dragons as the central characters. I love this inspired series.

This Series Keeps Getting Better and Better!

I've been looking for a book about dragons. Not dragon riders, dragon slayers, or a girl who get's sent to a dragon's lair by her Aunt. I wanted a book about dragons. However, when I found this series, I didn't expect it to be any good. I was proved wrong.

This book is in the point of view of Starflight the NightWing. In a world where the dragon tribes are at war, a prophecy has been delivered. Five dragonets will come and stop the war. A SeaWing, a SandWing, a MudWing, a NightWing, and a SkyWing. They were to hatch on the brightest night, and, in their eighth year, stop the war.

Starflight has been taken by the NightWings. Again. And Morrowseer is not happy with him. At all. It doesn't help that his friends don't know he was taken, and think that he left on his own.

Also, Starflight is not the fighter of the bunch. He's the bookworm. The nervous one, the one who has a huge crush on Sunny and has no idea how to tell her. He is also now my favorite of the group.

This book is the best one in the series so far. It's full of twists and turns, including an alternet group of prophecy dragonets (who were not hatched on the brightest night), a young NightWing, Fatespeaker, who has a huge crush on him (That Starflight doesn't notice), a father, Mastermind, who happens to be the one leading the 'research' on the RainWings, which involve handcuffing them to walls and binding their mouths shut so that they can't spit their poison, and a queen that no one ever sees. Starflight also finds a dreamvistor, which is an animus-touched object that allows a dragon to enter another dragon's dream. (Turns out, Clay does dream about food. Like, lots and lots of food)

Again, like the last one, I have no problems with this books. Starflight is a cute and nervous narrator, and it's interesting knowing his thoughts. It was also left on a bit of a cliffhanger, so it leaves you eagerly waiting for the next one.

Book 4 in the Wings of Fire Series. This book focuses on Starflight and the Nightwings. Lots of interesting information on this tribe of dragons, great insights into Starflight and his inner struggles over who he wants to be for his tribe and for his friends. Some secrets are revealed. The sneak peek of book 5 as well as some views into the other dragon kingdoms where the queens are plotting against the Dragonets of Destiny promise that book five - The Brightest Night (4/28/14) - will be awesome!

Loved it!

This is the third installment in a series that I am so glad that I read. There is another book coming, I wish it were out now, because I would be reading it at this moment.

Hannah and Seth are finally married, but her time travel hasn't abated. Once again, on her honeymoon she is pulled into the past. This time she learns information that is dangerous for her family. She doesn't change anything. I find it interesting that she is only pulled to places and times that make a difference for her life.

This is another short book, but well worth the reading. It has several Christian elements and is a page turner. It's clean, other than Hannah is stuck wearing a negligee around a hotel trying to find something to wear after time traveling on her honeymoon. (It's very humorous.)

Take a trip in time

I took a trip in time last night with Hannah as she left "today" and returned to "yesterday". I have been eagerly anticipating this third book in Amanda Tru's Christian Romantic Suspense time travel series. I will tell you that I did not expect the ending. I definitely did not see it coming! Hannah questions God and His actions in this book. Have you heard wondered why certain things happen? Read this book to escape the cares of this world by entering this incredible fantasy world. It makes me wish I could travel in time too. Would you like to make such a "trip"? Would you dare?

I loved it. I love the time travel. This story was so well written. Story of Seth and Hannah. I love the love story between the two of them. Finally a wedding. I was like how can she time travel on her wedding night. There are a few twist in the story that will keep you glued. Whats the story behind Wayne the best friend of Seth's. Get this book and find out all the twist and turns in it. Well worth 5 stars. Looking forward to the next one
