loved it!

I absolutely loved this book! I downloaded it in the morning and didn't put it down until I finished it at night. It was a perfect combination of adventure and romance. The chemistry between Samantha and Nicholas was sizzling hot, as well the love scenes... The writing was so well done, I was pleasantly shocked because it was only .99 cents on Amazon. This was the first book I've read from this author, and I plan on looking for more of her books the second I finish this review!

Great idea...

that didn't pan out. I dislike big age differences as I find them unnecessary most times as they were frequently the exception rather than the rule. He is 38 and she is 22 and I did my best to overlook that to concentrate on the story which began fairly entertaining. Samantha and Nick are under guard and headed for London chained to each other. They dislike each other and I found their interactions amusing. They also find each other sexually appealing and often wonder why. And so did I since they were so worried about their fates. Once they make their escape the whole thing begins to fall apart for me. Nick is shot, they run for hours and hours and hours to find a convenient hut to sleep in. Nick has lustful thoughts and she is afraid he will rape her. The next morning the baying of dogs have them on the run again. This time they find a swollen stream to jump into. Over a water fall they go, almost drown, and find a cave into which Nick suffers a week long fever. They are still chained to each other. Nick wakes to the smell of a "woman" in his arms. I'm thinking that couldn't be, she's had to potty two feet way from where he's been laying for that past week and he's not even peed his pants, because she surely wouldn't be sleeping on him if that were the case. This lack of reality annoyed me. Our McGyver Samantha manages to have fire, collects water from the cave wall to give him to drink and wipe him down. The first sex scene made me cringe. These two people were filthy dirty! Yuck. Samantha's uncle is a pedophile who tried to rape her. Nick is being blackmailed. At about 50% it became such a farce that I confess to skimming all the way to the end. While I disliked much of this story, the writing wasn't bad and I didn't think it fair to give it 2 stars when I did like some of it.

Enjoyable

I really enjoyed this book. I loved that both the H & h where "scoundrels" and that they both had painful pasts - that is very different from most HR books where the hero is dark and brooding and the heroine is all sunshine and butterflies.
I almost passed on this book based on a review I read on goodreads, where the reviewer said that she could only get thru the first 4% and had to quit because the hero did not seem very pirate like - really? if she hung on a bit longer she would have understood why.
I think I fell in love with this book at 11% when the H/h meet and she calls for the guard. And it only got better from there!
