Very Comprehensive, Detailed Format Using the KJV Bible

At two thousand and ninety-eight pages, this hardbound Bible is targeted toward those who want an in-depth, chronological viewpoint of the Scriptures with a plethora of details and side-note information. Instead of the typical canonical arrangement, events appear in the order they occurred, using strictly the King James Version in paragraph format, still listing verse numbers.
When quickly viewing the arrangement, the reader may easily be overwhelmed and consumed with the myriad of data. Yet in reviewing the introduction, the layout is extremely helpful, productive, and sensible.
The interior features include a chronological header system on each page that reminders readers where they are in the Bible’s timeline. There is also an outline that has three levels of headings. The top third of the page is the Word of God written from the KJV and below are notes sometimes by verse with explanation, colored maps or charts, and inserts about the text. Illustrated verses, section introductions, parallel passage indicators, archeological notes, diagrams, and personality profiles are also included.
Three types of timelines appear: a master listing all the events recorded throughout the Bible at the beginning of the book, detailed guides at the beginning of each era of Biblical history related to that section, and running key dates in the margin to indicate when the event took place.
In the back of the Bible, there are resources, book-by-book reviews, indexes that include a master list along with charts, maps, profiles, archeological notes, and illustrations. Also added is a dictionary/concordance and image credits.
At any crossroad of reading either the Old or New Testament, one can not only peruse the King James Version, he or she quickly knows events that happened chronologically, what timeline they occurred, detailed sidebars about several of the verses, other Biblical references, and pictures, maps, or drawings to aide in understanding.
For anyone who reads through the Bible yearly, this is a perfect, comprehensive, and well-thought out study application to learn more about God and how He has guided, love, and been there through the ages of time. Although it is heavier than a normal Bible, it is well worth its weight in learning more about the Almighty.

I love the maps and many of the charts!

I need to note that I have a hard cover copy of this book, I accidentally posted this review on the page for the Kindle version and I'm not sure how to change it...just so you know!
I wouldn't call this Bible uniquely applicable to a person's daily life as the Scripture is always applicable. That is not to say that I don't like this format, I do! I just needed to clarify that I don't quite agree with the title. This is a chronological Bible, interweaving chapters from various books of the Bible in their probable sequential order. This means that some chapters are split up and other parts of other chapters are placed in the gap to stay chronological.
There are many helpful charts to support the chronological aspect, some of my favorites being the several charts throughout the accounts of the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah, showing the "Kings To Date and Their Enemies"...I always get a bit confused about them. One of the other things I found very helpful were the little maps throughout, demonstrating where people went and where such and such a town was located. It gives you more comprehension of Biblical geography. There are also several large pictures of what Jerusalem and the Temple looked like in certain eras. Also included throughout are small full-color modern pictures of the various places that are spoken of, such as the Parthenon in Athens, Samaria, and there are also pictures of things as well, such as a millstone, and biblical manuscripts.
The notes are interesting, and even though they are apparently against the complete sovereignty of God, the notes in Romans are still interesting, part of the note on Romans 11:7 reads: "Resisting God is like saying to him, 'Leave me alone!' But because God is always and everywhere present, his answer to that prayer might be to agree and make that person less sensitive, more hardened to him..." I do not like that the writers of the notes do not take a stand on the age of the earth, they give the impression that it is not important for the beginning of the Bible to be literally understood, which can give a wrong impression as to the rest of the Bible.
I also need to mention that at least one of the pictures is inappropriate(Adam and Eve), you'll want to scribble it out, I have not seen all of the pictures yet so there may be more. I don't know why they thought that was okay to put in, even if it isn't as bad as it could be it still contradicts Genesis 3 where God gives them clothing(keep in mind that they were also husband and wife), why is it okay for their offspring to depict them in what is now their shame? We still live after the fall, not before it, so why contradict that?
Anyway, I do like all of the maps and several of the charts and pictures of the locations, it really is interesting to have a visual picture as one reads along.

Great Study Tool!

I love study Bibles. They can be such a great tool when I sit down and read through Scripture. Tyndale House Publishers has just released a Chronological Life Application Study Bible. This Bible "helps the reader see the larger story by breaking up the traditional books of the Bible into 10 major eras of biblical history, intermingling the Scriptures into a single, unified story from Creation to the end." (A8) This Bible includes a Chronological Survey of the Bible to give an overview of the Scriptures as a whole. It also includes a complete Biblical Timeline and maps. At the back of the Bible, there is a Christian Worker's resource, a Master Index, Concordance and Book-by-Book resource that "gives you an overview narrative, Blueprint, and Megathemes for every individual book in the Bible..." (pg. 1783) The Chronological Life Application Study Bible comes in King James Version and New Living Translation.
I'm excited about the chronological aspect of this Bible. It definitely gives a different perspective to read the Bible chronologically versus the current canonical order. I like having the complete Biblical Timeline in here as well to compare world history alongside of Biblical history. It really helps to connect the dots so to speak. I think that Tyndale House Publishers have put together a great resource for Bible study. The Chronological Life Application Study Bible would be a great asset to any library!
